Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most celebrated festivals of Hindus. It is celebrated all over India, In Maharashtra, it is celebrated especially. People wait for this festival eagerly and excited for this festival. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated because of the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. The Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to the story, the Goddess Parvati went for the bath after giving the orders to Ganesha, to don’t allow anyone to enter inside. After that, Lord Shiva was trying to come, but the lord Ganesh not allowed to him and he fought with Lord Shiva and denied him. Lord Shiva was the great anger, and he cut little Ganesha’s head from his body, after seeing to all that, the Goddess Parvati got violent with this and suddenly changed to goddess Kali and she is ready to destroy the world. Lord Kali was destroying the world from her anger and saving the world from destruction; Lord Shiva gave an instruction to his followers that they should go and return with the first animal head they find. Followers of Lord Shiva found an elephant at first view and took the elephant’s head to Lord Shiva. That head of an elephant has placed on the body of Lord Ganesha, and he was taken back to life again to calm down Goddess Parvati. After Lord Ganesha alive again, he got blesses by the all lords and Goddess, and then Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year for the same reason. This festival is celebrated every year on month September.
This festival brings many of happiness for the people. Before Ganesha Chaturthi, people decorate their home and temples. It is one of the most important festivals of Hindus. Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10 days long Hindu festival which starts on the Chaturthi with statue setting up in the home or temple and ends on Anant Chaturdashi with Ganesha Visarjan. During this festival, the market becomes in a full swing and everywhere colorful lighting is seen. Shops are decorated with idols of Lord Ganesha. On Ganesh Chaturthi peoples very happy and sing devotional songs, mantra aarti and made many types of Modak for Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is favorite God of everyone especially children like very much and called as friend Ganesha. Peoples in groups prepare pandal to worship Ganesha. They decorate Pandal with flowers and colorful lightning to make more attractive.
